During beauty school, I discovered the art of electrolysis and quickly realised it was a rare, highly sought-after service. After years of experience in laser hair removal, I firmly believe that the face and certain areas of the body, particularly those with only a few hairs, should never be treated with laser – only electrolysis. This insight reignited my passion for electrolysis and motivated me to refine my skills. I've had the privilege of working alongside industry professionals to ensure I deliver the best possible results. Electrolysis has since become a true passion of mine, and I am committed to providing exceptional treatments in this specialised field.
Electrolysis is a chemical process which uses a direct electric current to destroy the hair follicle. Electrolysis is the only method of hair removal that has been FDA approved.
A very fine sterile probe is carefully inserted into the hair follicle then a small electric current is delivered to the root of the follicle. This current will permanently destroy the blood supply to the follicle. The follicle will no longer be able to grow hair. At Beauty Therapist Ella we use the progressive blend method. This method yields the best results in the safest way.
After working in laser hair removal for many years I can personally say I think laser is great for most body areas. I think laser hair removal can have detrimental results when performed on the face and on body areas where we only have a few unwanted hairs. The risk of hair growth stimulation in those areas is high and I have seen it first hand. I always recommend electrolysis over laser hair removal when it comes to the face and certain body areas where there are only a few unwanted hairs.
Electrolysis is performed on each individual hair and is priced by time so it is only suitable for small areas. Electrolysis is suitable for all hairs: dark, grey, white, blonde etc. You may experience some discomfort during your session when the current is delivered to the hair follicle.
Unfortunately you are not suitable for electrolysis if you are:
- Pregnant
- Have poor circulation or healing issues which aren't being managed
- Have any metal implants such a pacemaker or ICD and if you have metal like pins in the area you want treated.
